Language Activities
Language is a tool for the expression of human intelligence. Especially during the early years, the child needs exposure to rich and precise language. The Montessori classroom is tri-lingual, where English, Tamil and Hindi are offered. In any language, oral language is the basis upon which reading, writing and comprehension are built. The Montessori language scheme is comprehensive and developmental. It starts with introducing phonetic sounds of letters, moving on to fusing the sounds for reading and analysing the words into sounds for writing. This is then followed by offering several language materials that are specially hand-made by the trained teachers to help every child transition through successive levels of challenges in reading and writing. The children are offered opportunities to explore the parts of speech and the sentence structure of the languages. The goal is to open up within each child, the joy of reading and writing, as a means of accumulating knowledge and of creative self-expression.
